So, I just went through an old hard drive of mine from college, and I grabbed all of the music off of there. My iPod went suddenly from 35 gigs to 65 gigs, and I’ve got a ton of new music to listen to… also, a headache from the mess of duplicate tracks now. But I’m gonna forget about that for now and focus on my playlist for this afternoon.

Belle & Sebastian – Dear Catastrophe Waitress
This is new for me. I don’t think I’d actually heard them until this week. I know, I’m at least a decade behind on this one, but it feels like I’m about 30 years behind. They have a really mellow, polished sound that makes me think they’d fit in in a Woody Allen movie or something along those lines. I really don’t know how to describe them, they’re just refreshing.

It's Raining

Not that that has anything to do with anything, but it’s nice that spring is starting to leave bread crumbs every time it visits now. It’s been gray and cold and stale for a while — I’ve been told to expect that for winter on Long Island, having only moved here in January — and I’m ready for a change, even if it just means it’ll be cold and rainy instead. Because soon, it’ll be warm and green, and we won’t be confined to our apartments, taking cover under quilts and steaming coffee mugs. And I work in the Hamptons, so I’m looking forward to a Gatsby-esque summer.

Today, I’ve got a full schedule, with a couple of hockey games and a movie from Netflix freshly arrived, and I’m sitting happy like a pig in you-know-what. Kelsey’s making apple pie, so everything is right with the world. Except that it’s been like this for a few months now. I stumble out of bed around ten or eleven (later, some days), fart around on the internet for a while, and then watch some TV. I get to do this a lot because I only work a few days a week, and sometimes at night, so I have no real good reason to break this schedule. But with the complacency of winter long set in, I think I’ve been writing not nearly as much as I want to be. So I’m going to try to keep this blog going, sharing stories, articles, and links to pass the time. I hope you’ll enjoy!
